I am utterly appalled and deeply shocked by the baseless and illegal military offensive initiated by the United States against the independent nation of Iran, specifically the deliberate attacks on the nuclear sites at Natanz, Fordow, and Esfahan.
This audacious act of hostility represents a severe breach of international law and Iran’s sovereign rights, jeopardling countless civilian lives and jeopardling regional and global stability.
Beyond its evident illegality, as consistently highlighted by multiple nations at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the United Nations Security Council, the intentional targeting of protected nuclear facilities poses the dire threat of radioactive contamination.
The possibility of a humanitarian and ecological catastrophe emphasizes the recklessness of striking sites under the direct oversight of the IAEA.
This profoundly lamentable action is further tainted by the blatant hypocrisy of President Trump. Just days prior, he openly professed support for diplomatic efforts and proposed a two-week period for de-escalation. Yet, within 48 hours, his administration has opted to forsake diplomacy and embroil the United States in a conflict with far-reaching ramifications. Only last week, the same President tacitly supported Israeli military strategies against Iran, raising questions about the genuineness of any peace initiatives.
The contradiction is even more striking considering that, just 27 hours before the strikes, the Government of Pakistan had officially nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. To now sanction such a destructive assault on a neighboring country while simultaneously lauding his actions as steps toward “peace” reveals a profound and disturbing inconsistency.
This reckless choice threatens to spark a wider regional conflict and has further undermined trust in diplomacy as a feasible means of resolving disputes.
I urge all individuals of conscience in Pakistan and across the globe to resolutely denounce this unlawful use of force. The United States, Israel, and any parties complicit in this aggression must face accountability.
We must stand together in defense of international law, national sovereignty, and the timeless principles of justice and peace.
